MS Awareness Week
Earlier this month, March 7-13, was known and recognized as MS Awareness week. MS or multiple sclerosis, is a disease in which your immune system eats away at the protective covering of nerves. During the month of March and this specific week, groups from all over try to encourage their communities to raise awareness of multiple sclerosis in hopes to improve the lives of individuals with MS. This awareness not only helps those who have the disease but also gives a support system to the families as well.
Pear always has groups come together during this time and participate in sponsorships for this great cause, and this year is no different!
Team leader, Yolanda Sanford, led one of the MS Awareness Pear sponsorships this year, called Team YOGI/MS Walk 2016, and although this was her first Pear sponsorship, she started Team YOGI a couple of years ago.
“Team YOGI was created by me in 2014 because I truly was a cure for Multiple Sclerosis. I was diagnosed in 2000 and have had a lot of health issues. I have been blind, double vision, lost use of limbs and in constant pain. There are many new diagnosis every day. We need a cure and that is why Team YOGI participate in the MS Walks each year. Help us find a cure.” – Yolanda
Soldiers for Stef, another MS Awareness group, is participating in the CustomInk sponsorship for the second year in a row! During their first year they raised the maximum amount of $200 for custom apparel, with the help of all their great supporters. This year, the group is already well on their way and still have four days left to complete their goal. Soldiers for Stef is made up of a group with family and friends who participate in MS Walk every year.
Pear is honored to have groups like these pull together to support great causes like MS Awareness. Good luck to all groups participating in walks this month!
